CHIÉ YOSHINAKA MATEJEK - VIOLIN

Norwalk Symphony Orchestra

Stamford, Connecticut

Ms. Yoshinaka began playing with the Norwalk Symphony in 2015 and plays with several other regional orchestras in Southwestern Connecticut as well. When not performing, she can be found teaching students remotely and in small, social-distanced settings. Her students have created Petit Concerts and their music is shared with local libraries through Zoom, and with Music and Friends, an organization that shares videos with the local elderly population. In the past months, she has taken time to learn new repertoire that has been on her ‘to-learn’ list. “This is a great way to find some repertoire for future recitals. There are piano and orchestral accompaniment videos on YouTube so as I finish learning each piece, I get to play along with some sort of accompaniment.” We were thrilled to venture to the Bartlett Arboretum with Chié and bring the wood of her instrument back to nature, acknowledging the artistry of the luthier who shapes the instruments from these raw materials.
